Internship ParamaX® Complex Improvement(F/M)

Description

Axens Presentation : Axens group provides a complete range of solutions for the conversion of oil and biomass to cleaner fuels, the production and purification of major petrochemical intermediates, the chemical recycling of plastics, all natural gas treatment and conversion options along with water treatment and carbon capture. The offer includes technologies, equipment, furnaces, modular units, catalysts, adsorbents and related services. Axens is also specialized in Carbon Capture. Axens is ideally positioned to cover the entire value chain, from feasibility study to unit start-up and follow-up throughout the entire unit life cycle. This unique position ensures the highest level of performance with a reduced environmental footprint. Axens global offer is based on highly trained human resources, modern production facilities and an extended global network for industrial, technical supports & commercial services. Axens combines the friendliness of a company on a human scale and the influence of a multinational environment whose customers are spread over more than 85 countries. Axens is an IFP Group company. Context : Axens Project Operations Business Division (POP) mission is to provide advanced technologies, basic engineering design, modular units design and technical services to its customers. We are looking for an intern for the POP Process Department. In the Process Department we work on basic engineering projects and Modular Units Projects development for our customers but also on new technologies development. Paraxylene is an essential chemical building block in the production of a diverse range of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and fiber consumer products. ParamaX® technology suite is a combination of top-of-the-line processes designed for the production of high-purity paraxylene, but also other aromatic molecules such as metaxylene, orthoxylene, benzene and toluene. Tasks and activities: In close contact with the process design team, you will work on several tasks related to ParamaX® technologies. Your main missions will be: 1. Development of a database dedicated to ParamaX® projects (~2 months): o Inventory of existing industrial units and understanding of the schemes (ParamaX® Block Flow Diagrams, PFDs); o Link with production goals and client’s energy constraints; o Tracking design evolutions (thermal integration, utility consumption reduction); o Construction, updating and automation of the database; o Analysis of results (establishment of trends according to the technologies concerned, feeds, products, unit capacities, etc.).   2. Clay Treaters (~4 months): Generalities: Clay treaters are used in aromatics complexes as a simple way to remove olefins (and in some cases oxygenates) from a stream, in order to prevent any damage to adsorbent, or catalysts of the units as well as to achieve the products’ specifications regarding olefins content (Bromine Index). o Clay Treaters are expensive in terms of CAPEX/OPEX : need to streamline their implementation into our schemes and optimize the quantities proposed in the commercial phase to make our processes and offers more competitive; o Consultation with technology experts and suppliers in order to consolidate the physico-chemical knowledge of the mechanisms involved; o Development of a performance prediction model for a given feed and specification. Profil: Currently in your last year of engineer school specialized in Process/Chemical Engineering you are looking for a 5 to 6 months internship. You are looking for technical challenges, you are eager to learn and you are able to understand quickly new concepts. You work autonomously, set your own targets and report your progress and difficulties frequently. Advanced competences in Word, Excel and Visual Basic. Fluent in English or in French, with good writing skills in English. Good team spirit, organized, proactive. Service: Project Operations Business Division (POP) - Process Department
