Technology Engineer for the Deep Conversion segment (F/M)

Context: The mission of our Business Division (BD), Technology and Technical Support (T&TS), is to propose to our clients sustainable solutions, which are also efficient in terms of technologies / process, catalysts / adsorbents and services for the whole domains Axens is involved in (Oil & Biomass Hydroprocessing & conversion, Petrochemicals production & purification, Gas and Water Treatment, CO2 capture). T&TS Business Division is responsible for the performance achieved in Axens’ clients units and for maintaining the competitiveness of our offer in a very competitive market and during the energy transition period. Technology Engineer position is at the crossroads of Axens core jobs, mixing technical support to sales, partnership with our Clients and piloting R&D actions to ensure our long-term competitiveness. In this BD, the Product Line Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing, Chemicals Integration is in charge of technologies and products related to the Deep Conversion of heavy products whether it is conventional or coming from recycling activities into Renewable Distillates, Clean Fuels and Petrochemical Feedstocks. This Product Line consists of a team of highly qualified engineers, whose missions are: • Prepare, clarify and defend the technical solution (technologies and/or catalysts) which fits the most the customer needs as a response to a tender, to design grass-roots units, to modify existing assets or to replace products. • Assist customers in their decarbonation journey by proposing taylor made solution around Axens technologies • Create a specific relationship and support our customers by providing the best technical assistance for units in operation through innovative digital tools and an efficient start-up. • Promote Axens’ technologies and services through different marketing actions • Adapt, develop and break new ground to Axens offer We are looking for a Technology Engineer for our Product Line Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing, Chemicals Integration. She /He will work on these various missions in close cooperation with the Commercial Business Divisions (Global Market Manager, Regional Sales Manager) and at the interface with other Axens entities (New Development Team BD, Project Operation BD, Industrial Operation BD, Legal Department,…). She/He will report hierarchically to a Product Line Manager. The domains of expertise are conversion of fossil feedstocks and/or blended with renewable materials or feedstocks sourced in the circular economy in a slurry or ebullated-bed technology. This position requires traveling abroad. MISSIONS: In the Group Sustainable Conversion & Hydroprocessing, the Deep Conversion Technology Engineer will be in charge of: • Analyzing the customer’s needs and the competitive context to deliver the best technical solution. • Preparing the technical proposal (technologies and/or catalysts) as a response to a tender. He/She estimates the performance, makes technology & scheme choices and proposes technical guarantees. He/She can make preliminary sizing of equipments and calculate the economics of the project. • Contributing to the commercial success by supporting the Regional Sales Managers in the preparation and the defense of the offer in front of the client • Promoting Axens’ technologies, catalysts and services through marketing actions : update of marketing document, publications, presentations in congresses or seminars,... • Following up a portfolio of clients’ units and maintaining frequent technical relationship with the clients (performance review, for instance thanks to a digital platform, on-site technical visits, troubleshooting,…) • Carrying out on-site spot missions (from a few days to a few weeks) at clients’ facilities: performance test, inspection, catalyst replacement and activation, unit restart, troubleshooting… • Participating to the collection, synthesis and treatment of the plant data he /she is in charge of the monitoring, in order to capitalize and identify potential improvements of Axens offer. • Piloting R&D actions for new products or processes • Leading or contributing to conceptual studies or projects for Axens’ clients : Kick-Off Meeting, optimization studies, energy efficiency studies. Knowledge And Required Level: • Engineer in Chemistry, Chemical Engineer or General Engineer with good knowledge in process and/or catalysis, with a significant experience in design/engineering in the field of refining/petrochemistry. • Skills in design and equipments sizing using simulation software (ProII, Hysis,…) is mandatory. • Knowledge in the specific process is a plus. Knowledge on site operation is a plus. • Being fluent in English is required for this position. These are qualities expected to develop the technical solutions to be proposed and defend them in front of the customers but also for the missions of follow-up and technical assistance. • You are willing to work on new challenges constantly • Availability for short-duration travels is required.
